Flexible Waveguides

MEGA INDUSTRIES provides flexible waveguides in sizes WR90 through WR2300. Full height and reduced height configurations are available to meet our customer’s requirements. Custom sizes through WR4750 are also available upon special request.

Flexible Waveguide, Copper Alloy, Silver, Gold, Brass, Aluminum Iridite, Black Oxide, Zinc, Tin Plating, molded neoprene, polyurethane, Phosphor Bronze, Tubing, Coaxial Transmission Line, Coaxial Gas Stop, Coaxial Impedance Transformer, Coaxial Coupler, Coaxial Phase Shifter, Coaxial Switche & Patch Panel, Coaxial Rotary Joint Coaxial Connector & Insulator, Gorham, Maine, ME. Flexible Waveguides are manufactured from aluminum or copper alloys with various flange configurations to meet EIA and Military specifications. The flexible waveguide may be plated in accordance with customer requirements. Typical finishes are copper, silver, gold and copper or aluminum iridite. Exterior protective coatings include black oxide, zinc, and tin plating or molded neoprene, polyurethane and various paint and enamels.

MEGA INDUSTRIES provides full design services for factory formed bends and twists to assure accuracy and electrical performance. A ten percent (10%) operating frequency bandwidth is requested to provide optimum VSWR results

MEGA INDUSTRIES recommends utilization of flexible waveguide sections to correct misalignment conditions between two interfacing subsystems and where nominal expansion and contraction in a microwave feed must be absorbed.

These flexible waveguide sections are supplied with flush type flanges that interface with EIA standards.

Semi-flexible waveguides manufactured by Mega Industries are available in various materials depending on the waveguide size. The typical materials used are: Aluminum, Copper, Brass and Phosphor Bronze.

Our process of brazing the seam off center assures excellent electrical performance for your high power applications. By brazing, and not joining by epoxy, you are assured a good long life joint not prone to splitting or leaking.

In addition Mega Industries offers a welded seam semi-flexible waveguide in sizes WR187, WR229, WR284 in phosphor bronze, thus affording you increased flexibility over units manufactured in aluminum.

This waveguide is constructed from thin wall tubing convoluted at our factory using our proprietary convoluting method assuring you of exacting specifications. Because of its seamless construction, the waveguide offers leak free construction both for RF and pressurization.

Compressed Convolution Semi-Flexible Waveguides

Compressed Convolution Semi-flexible waveguides manufactured by Mega Industries offers you one more option for your tough connection and low force requirements. This unique waveguide offers the same excellent electrical performance you have come to expect and demand from Mega Industries, while giving you that extra flexibility that you need in those tight connections that your layout may demand.

Our convoluting process allows for increased movement in both the E and H plane while requiring less force for compression and expansion. Because of the unique compression technique, this waveguide will offer greater expansion capabilities, however slightly less compression than our standard semi-flexible waveguide. This enhanced capability yields a softer move forgiving section that can prove extremely valuable in areas that would normally make for a difficult connection.
